Load width
Sleeping across or lengthways
A transverse bed saves a lot of length, but needs about 175 cm of inside width after panelling. In narrower vans you usually sleep lengthways.
Vans and dimensions
You usually only build a campervan once. That’s why My Campervan starts with the van itself: 22 popular vans in 114 lengths and heights, to factory dimensions.
Pick a van below and see straight away how much space you get.
1 · Choose your van
2 · Length and height
Three dimensions largely decide what fits in your van. Here’s how to read them.
Load width
A transverse bed saves a lot of length, but needs about 175 cm of inside width after panelling. In narrower vans you usually sleep lengthways.
Load height
Floor, insulation and ceiling take about 10 cm together. If you want to stand up straight, look at H2 or higher, or at a pop-top roof with a roof bed.
Load length
Bed, kitchen, seating, bathroom: every metre counts. A longer van gives you room, but is harder to park and heavier on the axles.
What My Campervan does with your van
The load area is there straight away, with wheel arches, sliding door, rear doors and the sloping upper side wall.
Choose another van and the builder fits your layout again. If something doesn’t fit, you’ll see why.
Cable lengths, insulation per m² and the weight per axle use the dimensions and kerb weight of your van.
